UIL CX Debate State Results

he China Spring HS speech and debate team represented us well at the 2018 UIL State CX Debate Tournament. The sophomore duo of Jacob Everett and Dalton Musel ended their run in the tournament with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Three of the teams that they debated advanced to the out rounds of the competition, so they had a competitive day! The sophomore duo of Ian McGuire and Katy Tiedemann ended the first day of the tournament with a record of 4 wins and NO losses. They advanced to the second day of competition ranked as the 4th seed in the competition before ultimately dropping to Gainesville in the octofinals of the tournament, ranking them 9th overall in the state. This placement qualifies both Katy and Ian for scholarships from the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation, the scholarship division of the UIL. This also makes Katy and Ian one of the youngest teams in China Spring's history to advance to the out rounds of competition at the state tournament. Congratulations to the students and Mr. Donaldson.
