This is a 5-day school week.
There will be class meetings this week: Freshmen and Sophomores (Thursday) & Juniors and Seniors (Friday).
Reminders for ALL students on the first day of school:
Cell Phone Policy (HB 1481) - It is TEXAS LAW that Cell phones are to be off, and put away in backpacks ALL DAY at CSHS. Cell phones out of a backpack at any time during the school day will be confiscated and a parent (not a sibling) will have to pick it up from the office. First offense is a warning. 2nd offense and beyond results in In-School Suspension
Dress Code Policy - Taken from pages 59-60 of the CSHS Parent/Student Handbook:
A dress code will be enforced at all school events (on or off campus).
Clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed.
Sleepwear, pajamas, and costumes are not permitted.
Articles of clothing with suggestive writing or pictures, or inappropriate advertising, slogans, or symbols are prohibited.
Students will not wear or have in their possession items that are inappropriate for school.
Any clothing which may relate to gang symbols is prohibited.
Shoes must be worn at all times. House shoes, cleated shoes, or any shoes that mark or damage floor coverings, are not allowed.
Caps, hats, visors, hoodie sweaters with hoodies worn covering the head, other articles of clothing that cover the head, and sunglasses are not to be worn inside school buildings.
Hemlines on all dresses, skirts, and shorts must not be shorter than mid-thigh length.
Pants may not have holes above mid-thigh length. No sagging pants are allowed.
Tights, leggings, or spandex may only be worn with a shirt, skirt, dress, or shorts that cover both the front and the back (no sheer panels; no skin may show through).
Jackets or coats must not be longer than mid-thigh length.
Tank tops (less than two inches wide on the shoulder strap), halters, midriff tops, tube tops are not allowed.
Open knit or unlined fishnet jerseys are not allowed unless they are worn over a T-shirt or blouse, or completely covered with a jacket.
Shirts with sleeves cut out are not allowed.
Excessively tight or baggy clothing is not allowed.
All undergarments must be covered.
Students’ hair must be clean, neat, and well-groomed. Hairstyles must not obstruct the student’s vision or a view of the student’s face. Unnatural colors are not allowed.
Piercing for the ear(s) and a single stud in the nose are allowed. Any other visible body piercings, including gauges, are not allowed.
Visible tattoos or fake tattoos are not allowed. Tattoos or fake tattoos must be covered while attending school.
No blankets may be brought to school and worn around the student’s body.
Facial hair: real, imitation, or any representation of facial hair is not allowed. Representations are including but not limited to costumes, cosmetics, or any enhancements, with intent to resemble facial hair. Sideburns cannot grow past the bottom of the earlobe.
SECONDARY-SPECIFIC GUIDELINES
● Girls must wear bras.
● Tops which reveal cleavage or midriff are not allowed.
If a campus administrator determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the District’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day, until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
The Board of Trustees delegates to the campus principal the authority to make final determinations as to whether clothing or grooming is or is not within this Code. The ruling of the campus principal regarding compliance/noncompliance with this Code and corresponding consequences assigned for violation for the Code is final and may not be appealed to the Superintendent, his/her designee, or the Board.
Attendance -
Attendance is taken every period, every day at the high school. Missing days or parts of days, can result in truancy and/or loss of credit at CSHS.

Discipline/Code of Conduct
We take the Code of Conduct seriously and expect every student to adhere to the standard of behavior and respect outlined in it. Failure to adhere to the code, from tardiness to disrespect, to serious misbehavior, you are expected to know the expectations of the code of conduct. Ignorance of the rules doesn’t negate consequences for breaking the code of conduct. You can find the CSHS Code of Conduct starting on page 141 of the Parent/Student Handbook.
DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS
Face-to-Face dual credit students will NOT have a 1st period class until August 24th when their MCC courses begin. A student who arrives at school for dual credit before the beginning of classes will remain in the cafeteria during 1st period. Students CAN pick up their schedule on the first day of school in the Old Main Gym.
Health Office
If your child has a chronic health condition and you have not been contacted by the school nurse, please contact the school nurse as soon as possible. All required forms can be found on the CSISD web page under Health Services if your student will have medication on campus.
